  • Should you pre-fill your oil filter?

Pre-filing will make the process easier if you have a large heavy-duty truck, but is not necessary if it is only a small light vehicle.
  • Can I use the same oil filter twice?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to use any kind of filter with any kind of oil. However, if you practice extended oil change intervals with synthetic oils, a conventional oil filter may not provide the required service life, which means you have to change it in the middle of the oil change cycle, which is inconvenient.
  • What are the symptoms of a damaged cabin air filter?

A symptom of a damaged or faulty cabin air filter is an unusual odour coming from the vehicle's interior vents. An overly contaminated filter may produce a dusty, dirty or musty odour. The odour may become more pronounced when the air is turned on and may cause discomfort to passengers.
  • How can I determine if the cabin filter is still usable or needs to be replaced?

In some cases, the filter may contain a small amount of contamination and does not need to be replaced. To determine if the filter is still usable, two common tests can be performed.

Torch test - shine a torch on one side of the filter and see if the light from the torch penetrates the folds of the filter. If the light passes through, the filter does not need to be replaced.

Daylight test - Take the filter outside and hold it up to the sky to see if sunlight can be seen through the folds of the filter. If the light passes through, the filter does not need to be replaced.

  • How do I determine how the air will flow through my climate control system?

Verifying the direction of air flow is an important step when installing a cabin air filter, as if installed backwards it will greatly restrict air flow and cause the filter to clog faster than normal. To do this, simply turn on the fan and set the dial to maximum, once you have removed the dirty filter. Then place a piece of paper inside the cabin filter housing and watch which side the paper moves to. When installing a new filter, make sure the arrow points in the direction the paper moves.
  • How often should cabin air filters be changed?

Original equipment manufacturers recommend changing cabin air filters at different frequencies - usually between 12,000 and 15,000 miles.

However, it is vital to pay close attention to driving habits, climate and the area in which the vehicle is driven. Vehicles driven in arid conditions should have their cabin air filters changed more frequently, as the amount of dust in the filter will build up more quickly. In these cases, the filter may only last a month. In areas where temperatures fluctuate greatly with the seasons and where large amounts of debris fall from trees, it is recommended that the cabin air filter be changed at least twice a year - once in spring and once in autumn.
